Prosenjit-Rituparna comeback film Praktan to be premiered worldwide on May 27
Kolkata, May 22 (IBNS) Prosenjit-Rituparna starrer Praktan, which marks the coming together of the 'hit jodi' of the 90s after 15 years, will be premiered across 19 states in India and several parts of US and Canada on May 27.
'We will be releasing Praktan in some theatres of Los Angeles, Toronto, Las Vegas on the same day the film will be premiered in Kolkata. There will be simultaneous screening in 19 states with English sub-titles," one of the producers Atanu Raychoudhury tells IBNS on the sidelines of 'Hete Dekho Kolkata' (Kolkata, Let's Walk) programme at the Apollo Gleneagles Hospital here.
The walk, themed on the chart-topper song of the movie rendered by singer Imon, was attended by the two lead pairs as well as one of the two directors Shiboprosad Mukhopadhyay and the super-speciality hospital's CEO.
"We are getting queries from the Bengali diaspora in US and Canada and 'Praobasee' (out-of-station) Bengalees about how the chemistry looked after all these years. Many, in the second generation had watched the hit films and used to read about them in papers and magazines those days and many had migrated to the States afterwards. So they are all very enthused as well as many among the present generation who are also keen to follow the recent trends in Bengal," Atanu, who had previously produced a string of films by the director duo including the blockbuster Belaseshe, says.
Briefly touching on the shooting experience, Rituparna says "He (Prosenjit) always gives space to his co-actor. During shoots he would at times say why there is not proper lighting on Ritu if he thought the lighting was not uniform. This reminded me about similar experiences in past. He always gives space."
"In fact there had never been any hit pairs like Prosenjit-Rituparna after Uttam-Suchitra in Bengali cinema and Praktan is carrying forward that legacy," she says
Prosenjit says: "Shiboprosad has gifted films with beautiful moments to the Bengali audiences all over the world, films with simple feel good emotions and I had been long wishing to be part of their films. Happy to reach out to the next generation Bengalees through fb and twitter in Praktan."
