London, June 24 (IBNS): At a time when the cricketers were facing severe criticisms for their poor show in the World Cup and a defeat at the hands of arch-rival India, Pakistani cricketer Shadab Khan dedicated the team's win against South Africa to "the fans of Pakistan cricket who support the team through thick and thin".

Khan urged fans to keep 'backing' their national side in the remaining matches of the 50-over cricket event.

Khan said the team is working hard to improve the game with every match.

"This victory is for the fans of Pakistan cricket who support the team through thick and thin. We are working hard and trying to improve with every match. Keep backing your country, we all are playing for Pakistan. #PakistanZindabad #WeHaveWeWill," Khan tweeted.

Pakistani team and their skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed have been criticised heavily by fans after suffering a massive defeat at the hands of India in their World Cup match in this edition of the tournament.

Pakistan beat South Africa by 49 runs in the Cricket World Cup match at the Lord's cricket ground here on Sunday evening.

Batting first, Pakistan scored 308 losing seven wickets.

Haris Sohail was the highest scorer of the side making 89 off 59 balls.

South Africa could only score 259 for nine when the balls ran out.

Pakistan now have two wins from six matches while the Proteas have just one win from seven matches.
