Why does he wear jersey number 7? MS Dhoni reveals reason

India's World Cup winning captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni played cricket wearing the jersey with number seven throughout his illustrious career.

But why this particular number? Dhoni recently revealed he wears it not because he considers it lucky but for a "simple reason".

"A lot of people initially thought that 7 is a lucky number for me and all of that. But I chose the number for a very simple reason. I was born on the 7th of July. So, it's the 7th day of the 7th month, that was the reason.

"Rather than getting into all the different things as to what number is a good number and all, I thought I would use my date of birth as the number. When people kept asking me about it, I used to frame different answers," the former Indian captain said in a YouTube video.

Dhoni, who bid farewell to international cricket in 2020, still plays the mega cash-rich T20 tournament, Indian Premier League (IPL).

He captains Chennai Super Kings (CSK), one of the most successful franchises in IPL.
