Ben Stokes to undergo knee surgery after World Cup

Ahmedabad/UNI: England allrounder Ben Stokes on Friday said he will be undergoing surgery after the World Cup, but will be available for the Test series in India.

"Yeah, I will be fine for the Test series in India. But yeah, I am having (knee) surgery after the World Cup," he told reporters on the eve of the England-Australia match here.

Stokes responded to a query whether he is going to be okay for the Test series in February if he is undergoing knee surgery.

Stokes has been suffering from the knee problem since the Test series against New Zealand in February, and he played just two matches in the previous IPL for Chennai Super Kings.

He is playing as a specialist batsman in the World Cup and missed the first three games in the tournament due to a hip problem.

India and England are set to play a five-match Test series from January 25 to March 11 with matches scheduled in Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Rajkot, Ranchi, and Dharamshala.
