'Sarpanch Saab': PM Modi calls Indian hockey team after historic Olympics Bronze medal win
PM Modi spoke to the Indian men's hockey team over the phone to congratulate the players for winning the Bronze medal at the Paris Olympics.
During the phone call, PM Modi spoke with captain Harmanpreet and goalkeeper PR Sreejesh, who played his final game for India in the bronze medal match.

He called Harmanpreet "Sarpanch" (leader), a nickname he earned for leading the team from the front at the Paris Olympics, ending the tournament with 10 goals, including two on Thursday.
PM Modi also asked the retiring Sreejesh to help groom a team for the future.

After a day of despair, the Indian Men's Hockey team brought back smiles to the faces of 1.4 billion people after they defeated Spain to win the Bronze Medal at the Paris Olympics 2024.
Skipper Harmanpreet Singh scored a 2-1 lead against Spain in their men's hockey bronze medal match at Stade Yves-du-Manoir.
This is the second time in a row Indian Men's Hockey won the Bronze after coming third in Tokyo Olympics three years back.
After trailing in the match initially, Harmanpreet converted his second penalty corner of the match, helping India turn the tie on its head.
This comes after Marc Miralles converted a penalty stroke to give Spain a narrow lead in the second quarter.
This is Indian goalkeeper PR Sreejesh last international match, and the team gave him a memorable farewell right after winning it.
After a painful loss to Germany in the semifinal, India triumphantly bounced back in the Olympic bronze medal match.
