Kanpur Police have denied allegations that a Bangladeshi cricket fan was assaulted during the ongoing second Test match between India and Bangladesh in Kanpur.

The police said the fan, who was identified as Tiger Roby, fell ill during the second Test match.

Roby, who is often seen wearing a Tiger costume, regularly attends Bangladesh Team's matches.

Earlier, Roby claimed he was punched in the stadium following an altercation.

However, he later made a U-turn after police denied the charge and said he fell ill in the stadium.

"I fell ill and the police brought me to the hospital. Now I am feeling much better. My name is Roby and I have come from Bangladesh," he stated in a short video clip as quoted by Hindustan Times.

India is currently 1-0 up in the series.

The first Test match was played in Chennai.
