AC Milan sacks manager Vincenzo Montella

Madrid, Nov 27 (IBNS): Football club AC Milan on Monday announced it has removed Vincenzo Montella as manager of the squad.

The club further said it has appointed Gennaro Gattuso as in charge of the first team.

The club tweeted:"#ACMilan announce to have parted ways with @VMontella. Management of the first team is entrusted to Gennaro Gattuso, who leaves his position as Primavera coach and to whom we wish the best of luck."

Montella was appointed to the post in 2016.

AC Milan is currently placed  in the seventh position in the Serie A with 20 points.

They are 18 behind current leaders of the tournament Napoli.

In the past nine Seria A games, AC Milan have posted just two wins.
