Mirpur, Mar 6 (IBNS) In a rain truncated match, hosts Bangladesh lost the all important final to India, who chased the required 121 runs with 8 wickets to spare, here on Sunday.

Earlier, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the Indian skipper won the toss and elected to field first and in a 15-over a side match restricted Bangladesh to 120 runs. The Indian bowlers picked up five wickets.

For Bangladesh, their opening stand provided them a good platform with 20 runs.

Mahmudullah top scored for Bangladesh with his unbeaten 33 off 13 balls. Sabbir Rahman  remained unbeaten at 32.

Among the Indian bowlers, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ashish Nehra, Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah picked up a wicket each.

Chasing the score, India lost a wicket early as Rohit Sharma slashed hard at a wide one from Al-Amin and was caught in the slips by Soumya Sarkar.

A 94-run partnership followed for the ensuing wicket between Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli.

Dhawan, who was out of form in the tournament, gatecrashed the party with a sublime 60 off 44 balls.

Virat Kohli remained unbeaten at 41 runs off 29 balls.

With 23 required off 19 balls, Dhoni walked in and bludgeoned a 104 meter six and finished the game with 7 balls to spare.

He remained unbeaten at 20 runs. His 6-ball innings comprised of 2 sixes and a four.

With this win, he became only the second captain after Mohammed Azharuddin to lift the silverware twice.

Dhoni also became the first captain to lead his team to 200 matches outside India.
