Enner Valencia scores twice as Ecuador beat Qatar in World Cup opener

Enner Valencia scored twice as Educador registered an easy victory against host nation Qatar in the opening match of the World Cup here on Sunday.

In the 15th minute of the match, Enner  converted a penalty to give Ecuador their first lead in the match and made things tough for the opponents.

He scored the second time when his strong  header hit the bottom left corner of the goal.

Going 2-0 up in the first half, Ecuador looked far more dominating than the hosts in the match.

Despite hitting five shots at Ecuador's goals, the hosts failed to convert one.

Ecuador will next face the Netherlands.

Qatar will now be meeting Senegal in their next encounter.

Qatar made their World Cup debut with the match.

Qatar became the first host nation to lose their opening game of the mega Football event.
