Mumbai, May 25 (IBNS) In a much-needed match, Corey Anderson shined with his bat as his fighting unbeaten 44-ball 95 runs knock helped Mumbai Indians beat Rajasthan Royals by five wickets to qualify the team for the play-offs.

Needing to score 190 runs, Corey's gutsy knock helped Mumbai chase down the target and reach 195 by losing only five wickets in 14.4 overs.

Anderson, who has scored the fastest century in ODI cricket this year, was ruthless in his knock where he hit nine boundaries and six sixes.

If Kolkata witnessed Yusuf Pathan's flashy batting for Kolkata Knight Riders, it was Corey who grabbed the attention of Mumbai Indians fans on Sunday night.

Mumbai Indians qualified for the next stage courtesy better net run rate while Rajasthan Royals were knocked out of the tournament.

Corey got good support from Ambati Rayudu (30) at the end as both added 81 runsi nthe fifth wicket partnership.

Rayudu's 10-ball 30 had five boundaries and a six.

Dhawal Kulkarni and Kevon Cooper took two wickets for Rajasthan.

Rajasthan earlier posted 189 for four on the scorecard in the crucial clash for both the sides.

Young Sanju Samson top scored for the side with his 47-ball 74. He hit seven boundaries and three sixes.

Karun Nair was the second top scorer for the side as he scored 50 runs off 27 balls.

Brad Hodge (29*) and James Faulkner (23) made some good contributions with their willows.

Jasprit Bumrah, Shreyas Gopal , Kieron Pollard and Harbhajan Singh picked up one wicket each for Mumbai.
