Ahmedabad, May 5 (IBNS) Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)'s poor show in the Indian Premier League (IPL) continued as riding on Pravin Tambe's hat-trick and Shane Watson's all-round performance, Rajasthan Royals (RR) beat Gautam Gambhir's side by 10 runs here on Monday.

Chasing RR's 170 for six, KKR managed to score only 160 runs for six in their 20 overs.

With KKR openers-Gautam Gambhir (54) and Robin Uthappa (65)- giving their side a good start by adding 121 runs in the first wicket, the ship suddenly tottered in Watson's one over where he picked up three wickets.

Watson's devastating 15th over of the match saw him taking the wickets of Gambhir, Uthappa and Andre Russell (1).

Pravin Tambe's very next over, in which he took the first hat-trick of the tournament so far, turned the tide completely in RR's favour.

In a  gap of two overs, KKR was reduced from 121 for none to 123 for 6.

Tambe picked up the wickets of Manish Pandey (0), Yusuf Pathan (0) and Ryan ten Doeschate  (0) in his hat-trick.

Shakib Al Hasan (21*) and Suryakumar Yadav (9*) failed to reach the target for KKR.

Yadav played as many as 17 balls to score only 9 and even missed to capitalise two free-hit opportunities which eventually hurt KKR.

Earlier RR scored 170 for six in 20 overs.

Karun Nair top-scored for the side with his 44.

Brief scorecard:

 RR 170 for six in 20 overs (K Nair 44; R Vinay Kumar 2/42, S Narine 2/28)

KKR 160 for six in 20 overs (R Uthappa 65, P Tambe 3/26, S Watson 3/21)
