Matthew Wade named Australian ODI team skipper for NZ series

Melbourne, Jan 27 (IBNS): Australian cricketer Matthew Wade has been named the skipper of the national ODI squad for the three-match Chappell-Hadlee Trophy series against New Zealand.

The Cricket Australia's website said the wicketkeeper-batsman was picked by the National Selection Panel, and endorsed by Cricket Australia's Board of Directors to lead the side with both Steve Smith and David Warner out of the Qantas Tour of New Zealand.

The series begins in  Auckland next week.

Smith has been ruled out of the tournament due to injury.
