South Africa look to set big target for India in Centurion Test
Centurion, Jan 16 (IBNS): Surviving the initial jolt, South Africa are looking to post a big target for India in the second Test match in Centurion as the hosts are already leading by 118 runs in the second innings.
After securing a marginal lead of 28 runs in the first innings, South Africa lost early wickets in the second innings bringing India into an advantageous position straight away.
But it was once again Dean Elgar and experienced AB de Villiers came to the rescue of the South Africans.
Both the batsmen survived the scare of Indian bowling attack and counterattacked.
AB took just 78 balls to score yet another half century and remained unbeaten at 50 by the end of the day's play.
Elgar, who is looking firm in the wicket, offered solid support to his senior mate with an unbeaten 36 from 78 balls.
Though bad light stopped the third day's play, South Africa is well ahead of the Indian total in the second innings. They scored 90/2 at stumps on day 3.
Earlier on Monday, a classy knock of 153 runs by Virat Kohli helped India go past 300 mark. India went all out to 307 in reply of South Africa's 335 runs in the first innings.
Kohli became the third Indian to score 150 or above runs in South Africa after Sachin Tendulkar and Cheteshwar Pujara.
