US Open: No major upset on day 2 as big names enter second round

The poster boy of the tennis world Roger Federer breezed past his opponent to enter round two. The Swiss did not drop a set in his 6-1, 6-2, 6-2 game against L Mayer of Argentina.
Albert Ramos-Vinolas of Spain tried stretching the third set to a tie breaker but Stan Wawrinka overcame the challenge with some authority posting a 7-5, 6-4, 7(8)-6(6) score line to prevent his opponent from reaching higher rounds.
Fourth seeded Caroline Wozniacki kept it clean against Jamie Loeb. Loeb ended with 2-6, 0-6 to crash out of the grand slam in the opening round.
Petra Kvitova overcame her German opponent L Siegemund with 6-1, 6-1 and made it to round two.
Andy Murray dropped a set against Australia’s Nick Kyrgios but managed to hold on as the third seeded player posted a score line of 7-5, 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 to edge past his opponent.
