Virat Kohli urges citizens to follow rules of lockdown seriously
Mumbai/IBNS: Indian cricket team skipper Virat Kohli on Friday urged people to obey the 21-day lockdown rules seriously to contain the spread of the deadly Coronavirus in the country.
In a video shared on Twitter, Kohli urged people to understand the seriousness of the situation and take responsibility of the same.
He is seen requesting people to maintain social distancing and follow the safety guidelines and directives issued by the government seriously.
"What I have seen in the last few days that people are moving in groups, not abiding by curfew rules, not following lockdown guidelines. It shows that we are taking the fight very lightly. But this fight is not as easy as it looks or feels. Please follow the directives of the government," he said in the video.
"It will only be successful when we follow our duties rather than going out in groups and breaking rules. This is in my view an act against the country's well-being. So now, I along with all of you wish to see things improve and please follow the directives of the government," Kohli concluded.
Please wake up to the reality and seriousness of the situation and take responsibility. The nation needs our support and honesty. pic.twitter.com/ZvOb0qgwIV

The video emerged when India is following the third day of its national lockdown, a move seen as a crucial measure taken by the Centre to fight against the virus.
With people largely responding to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal for staying at home, the bustling Indian streets were mostly empty except movement of essential services.
However, many heeding to the lockdown rules, also posted and shared videos of "irresponsible citizens" violating the diktats to endanger everyone's lives.
