Kolkata: MP Birla Group's flagship company on Thursday said its June quarter profitability dropped due to unusually weak cement prices and sluggishness in demand, coupled with an unprecedented downturn in the jute industry.

Kolkata: Triggering yet another row in the warring MP Birla Group, three subsidiaries of Vindhya Telelinks Ltd, a cable company of the Group, had started separate criminal proceedings against five persons, including three former directors of these companies, for alleged falsification of documents over a sustained period of time and misrepresentation of themselves as directors even after they ceased to hold office, the company said in a release.

Kolkata, Aug 2 (IBNS): Birla Corporation Limited, the flagship company of the MP Birla Group, reported that its Q1 PAT is at Rs. 141 crore, up 68 per cent year over year, the highest ever quarterly pre-tax profit.
