Jammu and Kashmir is witnessing an unprecedented rise in tourists with mercury rising up in the plains.

The tourists also include foreigners.

The spike in tourists is evident from the fully booked hotels, houseboats, and homestays in the picturesque Indian UT.

A senior tourism official was quoted as saying by The Kashmiriyat news portal that over a million tourists had arrived by mid-May, surpassing 2023’s numbers and setting the stage for a record-breaking year.

Apart from popular destinations, offbeat locations like Daksum, Doodhpathri, and Keran are also witnessing a rise in tourists.

The region is currently receiving a high volume of tourists from Gujarat, Maharashtra, West Bengal, and Tamil Nadu, driven by abnormally high temperatures in these areas, the news portal reported.
