Toronto/IBNS: India’s 72nd Republic Day would be celebrated here virtually on Sunday, January 31 2021 by Panorama India, with the support of the Consulate General of India, Toronto, featuring over 8 hours of culture and programming.

Panorama India announced that this year’s celebrity judge for the 12th annual Panorama Idol will be Kavita Krishnamurti Subramanium presented by SBI Canada Bank.

Public voting will open on Saturday, Jan 30 at 12 pm and close on Sunday, Jan 31, 2021, at 3 pm. To vote please go to www.panoramaindia.org

"This year Panorama Indian teenagers can participate. All must register by January 20 and then on Saturday, January 30 there will be a live digital contest held for each group. It is exciting as it’s a way for young kids to participate in the celebrations” said Vaidehi Bhagat, executive director of community relations and sponsorship.

The highlight headline segment of the event is "Two Legends One Night” featuring an exclusive chat with the power couple from the world of music and art Kavita Krishnamurti Subramaniam and Dr. L Subramaniam.

"The Republic Day celebration is important as it is our community’s celebration. We have artists performing across GTA and some across Canada, over 45 community organizations are engaged in the folk dance and other segments.

"For the first time, we have a very special segment where our seniors are participating in the celebrations. Panorama India has gone fully digital and I am so grateful for the response from the community. We work hard to ensure most if not all, states and languages are represented during the celebration,” said chairperson Sumeeta Kohli.

The entire event will adhere to the current Covid-19 guidelines and regulations laid by the provincial government and it is expected to be one of the significant Indian cultural programs celebrated virtually outside of India.

Keeping in mind the importance of community engagement, this year’s digital event would enable the involvement and engagement of everyone.

This year the community can vote to participate as the 4th judge for the Panorama Idol Competition which will air both on Saturday, January 30, 2021, and Sunday, January 31, 2021, during the Republic Day celebration. The voting lines will open at 12 p.m. on Saturday and close at 3 p.m. on Sunday to enable everyone to vote and show their support.

"We have had an overwhelming response from our community. We have over 100 plus artists performing in our segments and many Indian states are represented in our Folk-Dance segment,” Anusha Iyer, Panorama India’s Director of Programming said.

"We feel honored to be able to achieve a large-scale digital distribution of the event. We are going live on our social media channels, Facebook, and YouTube as well as many of the local favorite channels on Cable and IPTV.
