Ontario woman jailed in US for driving with Canadian license
Atlanta, May 7 (IBNS): An Ontario woman has been jailed by the Georgia police in the US for driving with her Canadian license, media reports said.
About a month ago, 27-year old Emily Nield was reportedly driving through Georgia to Tennessee when she was stopped by police.
Pulling her over for exceeding the speed limit, police asked the woman to furnish her driving license.
When she produced her Canadian license, police denied to accept it as it was not of the US.
Though the woman repeatedly said the license will work even in the US, the police denied to accept it.
The police then went inside the car though a window and got her handcuffed.
She has been quoted by CBC News, "When I failed to produce it, she reached through the window of my car and she put handcuffs on me."
"She told me that I have just been arrested for driving without a licence and that I needed to go to jail."
Explaining the incident, Emily said told CBC News, " It was the most horrendous incident of my life. It was mortifying. I was terrified the entire time."
The Ontario woman then took to snapchat to send a video to her friends where she described the whole incident in absence of police.
Emily is looking for an apology from the Georgia police.
