Srinagar/UNI: Security forces arrested a 'hybrid' militant of Lashkar-e-Taiba in the Awantipora sub-district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said on Tuesday.

The 'hybrid' terrorist, a term coined by police for those who slip back into normal lives and have no police records, was arrested at a checkpoint at Ladoo Awantipora by joint forces

“Police along with security forces during a naka checking at Ladoo Awantipora arrested a hybrid terrorist linked with proscribed terror outfit LeT and recovered incriminating materials including a grenade from his possession,” a police spokesperson said.

He was identified as Abid Ahmad Sheikh of Satpokharen.

“During preliminary investigation, it came to fore that the arrested hybrid terrorist was in close touch with LeT commanders and was involved in the transportation of arms and ammunition,” the spokesperson added.

Police said a case under relevant sections of law has been registered in Khrew police station and further investigation has been taken up.
