Manish Sisodia should get Bharat Ratna for improving standard of education in Delhi, says Arvind Kejriwal amid CBI raids

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday backed his Deputy Manish Sisodia and said he should get Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian award of the nation, for improving the standard of education in the national capital but instead of that he is facing CBI raids.

Attacking the Centre over the recent CBI raids conducted at the residence of Sisodia, Kejriwal said: "Such a person should get Bharat Ratna. The entire country's education system should be handed over to him. Instead, they conducted CBI raids on him."

The AAP leader credited Sisodia, who is also the Delhi Education Minister, for reforming government schools in the national capital which other parties could not do in 70 long years.

AAP leader and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his Deputy Manish Sisodia on Monday vowed to make Gujarat a vibrant state if their party won the Assembly elections, with Sisodia insisting that he will never help the BJP break the AAP from within.

"I guarantee that within 10 days of our government in Gujarat, Rs 1 crore will be given to every family of the martyrs of the state," Kejriwal told a Town Hall meeting in poll-bound Gujarat.

"We guarantee that we'll provide free and best health treatment to all Gujaratis. Like Mohalla Clinics, Health Clinics will be opened in cities and villages," he said.

"We'll improve existing government hospitals and new government hospitals will be opened if needed," Kejriwal added.

"People of Gujarat are sad and bearing brunt of arrogance of the BJP regime of the last 27 years," he said.

Kejriwal referred to The New York Times praise of the Delhi government's education model, and added: "We will help Gujarat's students get quality education."

"Manish Sisodia may be arrested. Who knows I may also be arrested. All this is being done for the sake of Gujarat elections," Kejriwal added.

Earlier in the day, Sisodia told the media that on the lines of Delhi and the way work is being done in the fields of education, health, inflation and electricity in Punjab, Gujarat too will vote for Kejriwal.

"We will do better work within one term than what the BJP has done in the past 27 years," Sisodia addd.

In a major allegation, Sisodia tweeted in Hindi: "BJP's message has come to me -- break AAP and join BJP, will get all CBI and ED cases closed.

"My reply to BJP -- I am a Rajput, a descendant of Maharana Pratap. I will cut off my head but will not bow down in front of the corrupt-conspirators. All the cases against me are false. Do whatever you want to do."
