Provide justice to Bilkis Bano: Priyanka Gandhi Vadra

| @indiablooms | Aug 25, 2022, at 07:51 pm

New Delhi/IBNS: Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra Thursday launched a fresh attack at the BJP-led central government after the Gujarat government decision to release 11 people convicted in the 2002 Bilkis Bano case.

The Congress leader also questioned the ruling dispensation's silence on the matter.

"The government has drawn its line by keeping silence on the release of 11 people convicted of rape. But the women of the country have hope from the Constitution. It gives courage to the woman standing in the last row to fight for justice. Provide justice to Bilkis Bano," she tweeted in Hindi.

Earlier, the Congress said Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave the slogan of 'Beti Bachao' but his government in Gujarat believes in "balatkari bachao.'

In a recent update, the Supreme Court has issued a notice to the Gujarat government seeking response to a plea against the decision of releasing 11 life convicts imprisoned for the gang rape of Bilkis Bano and mutliple murders during the 2002 Gujarat riots, as per media reports.
