Chandigarh/UNI: Haryana is all set to start the second phase of the COVID-19 vaccine roll out from Feb 3 after the successful implementation of its first phase.

In the second phase of COVID-19 vaccine roll out, the frontline workers will be vaccinated.

The registration of all such workers will be completed on the CoWin portal by Feb 7 to ensure its smooth implementation.

This decision was taken in the third meeting of the State Steering Committee and State Task Force Committee through video conferencing under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Vijai Vardhan here on Tuesday.

In the meeting, Divisional Commissioners, District Deputy Commissioners, Superintendents of Police, Jail Superintendents, District Development and Panchayat Officers, Municipal Commissioners, Home Guard In-charge, Medical College Directors and CMOs were present.

Vijai Vardhan directed the District Deputy Commissioners of the state to coordinate with all the departments and play a crucial role in the effective implementation of the COVID-19 vaccine roll out.

Besides this, he urged them to ensure the implementation of the vaccine roll out in a systematic manner to the eligible beneficiaries on the lines of its first phase.

The Chief Secretary further asked the officers of various departments to get themselves administered the vaccine to set an example and also to motivate others for the same.

Besides this, the Health Care Workers (HCWs) who were unable to get themselves vaccinated in the first phase can do so by Feb 15.

Divulging the details of the successful implementation of the COVID-19 vaccine roll out, Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Rajeev Arora said that Haryana is among the top three states in the country for the successful implementation of the first phase of COVID-19 vaccine roll out.

The state has administered vaccine to about 1,25,000 Health Care Workers.

Likewise, the state is all set for the second phase for the vaccine roll out which will be administered while adhering to the necessary guidelines issued during the first phase.

Arora reiterated that strict adherence of the guidelines issued to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic should be observed along with administration of vaccine as there was no scope for complacency.

In addition, he asked the officers concerned to continue COVID-19 sampling at the same pace.
