India reports over 20,000 Covid-19 cases, 222 deaths in 24 hours

New Delhi/UNI: India registered 20,346 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, taking the overall tally to 1,03,95,278, the Union Health Ministry update said on Thursday.

However, 222 more lives were claimed by the virus since Wednesday, pushing the nation's pandemic death toll to 1,50,336.

"Total cumulative recoveries have crossed 1 crore mark (1,00,16,859). India's recoveries are the highest in the world," the Ministry said.

As many as 19,587 patients have recovered and discharged in the last 24 hours.

The national recovery rate has further grown to 96.36 per cent.

The gap between active cases and recovered cases is continuously increasing (97,88,776).

The recovered cases are 44 times the number of active cases.

The total positive cases of the country on Thursday are 2,28,083 and comprise merely 2.19 per cent of the total cases.
