Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat tests Covid+
New Delhi/IBNS: Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has tested positive for coronavirus, he said in a tweet on Thursday.
Shekhawat is the sixth Union minister to have tested positive for the virus, which has sickened over 28 lakh people in India since its outbreak in the country.
The 52-year-old minister urged all those who came in contact with him to get tested for Covid-19.
"After noticing some symptoms of the illness, I got myself tested. The report is positive. On the advice of doctor's, I am getting admitted to hospital. I urge everyone, who came in contact with me in the last few days, to isolate themselves and get tested. All of you be safe and take care," the Union Water Resource Minister tweeted in Hindi.
Shekhawat had met Haryana Chief Minister ML Khattar to discuss the Yamuna Sutlej Link Canal issue on Tuesday.
He will be admitted to Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon near Delhi for Covid-19 treatment, an NDTV report said.
Apart from Home Minister Amit Shah, who tested positive for Covid-19, other Union ministers who have been infected so far include Ayush Minister Shirpad Naik, Union Minister of State for Agriculture Kailash Choudhary, Arjun Ram Meghwal and Dharmendra Pradhan.
Lav Agarwal, who led the Centre's news conference on Covid update, has been also sickened by the virus.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa are other top politicians who got affected by the virus in the last few weeks.
More than 20 lakh people have recovered from coronavirus in India.
