Lucknow/UNI: Stressing on providing quality health services at all Covid -19 hospitals in the state, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday said that the additional deployment of doctors should be made in these hospitals if required.

He also asked for the appointment of additional officers of special secretary rank in those districts where the number of Covid cases have gone up.

“Increase the number of beds in L-2 and L-3 Covid hospitals and if required increase ICU beds in the hospitals as well," Adityanath said while presiding over a high-level unlock review meeting at his official residence.

He directed the Medical Education Department to appoint a controlling officer in every private medical college where the Covid hospitals are set up.

“Post two Special Secretary-level officers each in Kanpur Nagar and Lucknow to assist the respective DMs in controlling the Covid-19 infection and improving the medical services. Similarly, one officer each should be posted in Varanasi, Prayagraj, Gorakhpur, Bareilly and Bahraich," he said.

In the last few weeks, these districts have shown a spike in the corona cases. Lucknow has been reporting over 600 cases on a daily basis, followed by Kanpur where the average cases in the last one week are around 250.

Similar spike is witnessed in Varanasi and Prayag Raj.

He further asked officers to keep on making efforts to control the menace of Covid-19. “The awareness campaign should be continued with the same urgency sensitising people about protection protocol. The various publicity modes like TV, newspapers, banners and posters should be used to underline the importance of social distancing and masks,” he said.

The Chief Minister said that the fire safety measures should be in place at all the hospitals. Also, the facilities in the hospitals should be as per the norms.

He asked officers to provide all possible help for flood victims and make sufficient numbers of shelters in flood-hit areas. He also directed to ensure availability of fertilizers in the districts.
