Jayalalithaa's seat RK Nagar goes to by-poll today

Chennai, Dec 21 (IBNS): RK Nagar, seat which had fallen vacant after demise of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, is going to by-poll on Thursday, media reports said.

The seat had fallen vacant since Dec 2016.

The Election Commission in early part of the year had postponed the poll over the alleged bribery charges in the process of the poll conduct.

The EC took the call to scrap the scheduled poll two days after the I-T Department raided the house of Tamil Nadu Health Minister Vijayabaskar.

Rebel AIADMK leader TTV Dinakaran is also contesting the election against its own party.

Days before the poll, actor Vishal's nomination was rejected by the Election Commission on Tuesday which prompted the actor to hint at a conspiracy behind the development.

Vishal had filed his nomination as an independent candidate for the by-polls.
