Who is Mad Sandhu? Popular LGBTQ influencer shot dead in Punjab
Social media influencer Mad Sandhu, who had a significant following online, was shot dead in Amritsar, Punjab, on Saturday, prompting a police investigation.
A social media post purportedly attributed to Goldy Dhillon and Jagga Tarn Taran claimed responsibility for the attack, India Today reported.
However, the circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear, and the motive behind the killing has not yet been established.
Sandhu was reportedly found lying on the road after the shooting.
He succumbed to his injuries while being taken to hospital for treatment.
“Two unidentified men fired at him around 6 pm,” Sirivennela, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, told NDTV.
Mad Sandhu, whose full name was Madhusudan, had appeared on several podcasts, where he discussed topics including makeup, the film industry and gender issues.
He rose to prominence on social media through content featuring luxury fashion and lifestyle tips, along with candid commentary on social norms, LGBTQ+ acceptance and pop culture. His reels and viral videos helped him build a substantial online following.
