IIFA to host night of fashion and music
The high-end event which is one of the key initiatives of the Videocon D2H IIFA Weekend will be held on Apr 24 at the Tampa Convention Center.
Hosted by the stunning Gauhar Khan and IIFA nominee, actor, Vivek Oberoi, Myntra.com IIFA Rocks will showcase leading Indian designers from India and the host nation, Vikram Phadnis, Manish Malhotra and the US-based Amita Bal.
While ace designer Manish Malhotra will display an exquisite collection from Shabana Azmi’s NGO, the Mijwan Welfare Society, another leading name of Indian fashion Vikram Phadnis will showcase his collection ‘Nazaakat’ touted to be the epitome of classic Indian attire which he has designed for Vishal Fashions.
Walking the ramp for Phadnis are stunners Malaika Arora Khan and Yami Gautam. Malhotra will have Anil Kapoor, Siddharth Malhotra and Sonakshi Sinha walk for the Mijwan Welfare Society.
The US-based Indian fashion designer Amita Bal is the third talent who will showcase her collection with P. N Gadgil Jewellers and the reigning Miss America Nina Davuluri will take a bow dressed in her designs.
Amita thereafter also does a very special segment which will have Tampa’s heroes receive a special honour, they walk the ramp…representing Tampa Bay Rocks!. These achievers will be escorted by well known names from Tampa, giving the event a local flavour.
The segment will see local celebrities, NASCAR driver – Shannon McIntosh, WFLA Morning Anchor – Jack Harris, Ms Tampa 2014 – Katy Sartain, Mayor of Tampa – Bob Buckhorn, Brad Culpepper of Tampa Bay Buccaneers fame and Brook Bennett – US Olympic Gold Medal swimmer, among others with hero’s Commissioner Al Higginbotham, Linda Hess, Jim Morgan, Hillary Wineberg, Naren Ramakrishna and Officer Donaldson, among others. Dr Kiran & Pallavi Patel will also walk the ramp in this segment.
On the music side, turning up the volume with exciting performances is the musical maestro Rahat Fateh Ali Khan along with famous Indian playback singers Monali Thakur, Bhoomi Trivedi, Ankit Tiwari and the sensational percussionist DJ Ravi Drums.
