AIFF to invite bids for new I-League Teams

| | May 03, 2014, at 05:18 pm
New Delhi, May 3 (IBNS) The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has issued an invitation to tender inviting bids from new Clubs/Entities to participate in the I-League from Season 2014-15.

The invitation to tender sets out the details on how the bids are required to be submitted and can be obtained from AIFF Headquarters, ‘Football House,’ from May 6 onwards.

The pre-bid Meeting is scheduled to be held on May 15 and the last day for submission of bids is June 2.

The success of the bidding process for Teams in the I-League has come as an eye-opener for all. Only prior to the last edition, JSW had successfully bid to get an I-League Team from Bangalore and have won the Title in a convincing fashion in their first Season itself.

In order to broadbase the game, AIFF may give preference at its own discretion to bids received from Clubs/Entities who want to operate from non I-League Cities like Ahmedabad, Baroda, Chennai, etc.

The invitation for the tender will be published on Monday (May 5) in some National Dailies.
