All-round India beat England by 133 runs

Cardiff, Aug 27 (IBNS): Riding on Suresh Raina's 100 and strong performance by bowlers, India defeat England by 133 runs in the second One Day International of the five-match series here on Wednesday.

England had posted a massive 304 runs with the loss of six wickets in 50 overs.

Rain interrupted the game at that point and forced to shorten the target to 295 runs in 47 overs.

England were all out for 161 runs in 38.1 overs.

England openers Alaister Cook (19) and Alex Hales   (40) , who made his ODI debut for the home side, gave a solid start to the run chase and added 54 runs in the first wicket partnership.

As Indians were finding for their first breakthrough, it was Bengal player Mohammed Shami who picked up two quick wickets of Cook and then Ian Bell (1) to help the visitors tighten their grips on the match.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar (1/30), R Ashwin (2/38) and   Jadeja (4/28) and Suresh Raina (1/12) finished the game and helped India take a 1-0 lead in the series.

Eoin Morgan (28),Ben Stokes (23) and Chris Woakes (20) failed to convert the start they got.

It was Jadeja who used the condition well and picked up four wickets in the match.

Suresh Raina's well-made 100 and skipper MS Dhoni's 52  earlier helped India post 304 for the loss of six wickets.

Raina smashed 12 boundaries and three sixes in his innings.

Ajinkya Rahane (41) , Rohit Sharma and Dhoni scored 52 runs each to post 305 runs target for the hosts.

Ravindra Jadeja (9) and R Ashwin put up  a crucial 16 runs partnership in the seventh wicket which helped India go past the 300-run mark.

Chris Woakes took four wickets by giving away 52 runs for England.

Indian came back strongly in the ODI series after their poor show in the Test where they lost the series 3-1 to the home side.

England 161 all out in 38.1 overs (A Hales 40; R Jadeja 4/28)
