Cricket World Cup 2023: England lose to Australia by 33 runs, out of tournament

Ahmedabad/IBNS: Defending champions England crashed out of the Cricket World Cup 2023 losing to Australia by 33 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium here on Saturday.

Chasing 287, England were bowled out by Australia for 253 in 48.1 overs.

Ben Stokes (64 off 90 balls), Dawid Malan (50 off 64 balls) and allrounder Moeen Ali (42 off 43 balls) were the top scorers for the English side.

Australia's Adam Zampa picked three wickets for just 21 runs in 10 runs.

Earlier, Australia were bowled out for 286 in 49.3 overs. England's Chris Woakes picked four wickets for 54 in 9.3 overs.

Marnus Labuschagne was the top scorer for Australia with his 71-run innings. Cameron Green (47) and Steven Smith (44) made significant contributions in Australia's scorecard.
