England win toss, opt to bat first

Chennai: England won the toss and opted to bat first against India in the first Test match here on Friday.

This is the first Test series India is playing since the country registered a historic series victory in Australia.

Virat Kohli is leading the squad.

The series which India won in Australia was led by Ajinkya Rahane in the absence of Kohli.
