Manchester, Aug 9 (IBNS): India suffered a massive defeat by an innings and 54 runs defeat at the hands of England in the fourth Test of the series here on Saturday.

England's all-round show crushed India to take 2-1 lead in the series.

The hosts bowled beautifully to take nine wickets after tea to bowl India out for 161 on the third day of the fourth Test.

Moeen Ali played a crucial role in the Test with his 4-39 performance which was once again crucial in destroying the young Indian line-up.

It was a strong performance by Ali and other English pacers as they fully compensated for injured pacer Stuart Broad's absence. The pacer was injured at the end of the English first innings as his nose was cut open by a Varun Aaron bouncer.

Chris Jordan took the final two wickets in two balls while senior James Anderson picked up two wickets and

Chris Woakes scalped one to finish the Indian batting line-up .

MS Dhoni (27) and Ravindra Jadeja (46) were the only batsmen to cross the 20-figure mark for India.

Earlier, the England first innings ended at 367 as Joe Root (77) and Jos Buttler (70) helped the side take 215 runs lead against India.

England made a massive turn around in the series by winning two Tests consecutively after losing the second Test of the series.
