Colombo, Aug 21 (IBNS): The Indian team gave a guard of honour to Sri Lankan cricketer Kumar Sangakkara as he came down the field to bat in the first innings of the second Test for his side on Friday.

Sangakkara came to the crease at a point when Sri Lanka lost the wicket of Dimuth Karunaratne (1) with just one run on the scorecard.

India were all out for 393 runs in their first innings.

Sangakkara shook hands with Indian skipper Virat Kohli before taking the crease.

The Sri Lankan wicket-keeper-batsman went on to score 32 runs before Indian off-spinner picked up his wicket to give India the second break-through in the innings.

Sangakkara, who has played 133 Tests for his nation, will retire after this match.
