'It hit home to me...,' says Virat Kohli revealing MS Dhoni's text to him during lean patch

Team India's star batter Virat Kohli had earlier said it was only former skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni who reached out to him after he stepped down as the Test captain in January this year.

Now, Kohli shared the message he got from Dhoni during the tough phase where he was struggling to score runs.

Speaking to RCB podcast, Kohli shared, "The only person who has genuinely reached out to me has been MS Dhoni. And for me that is such a blessing to know that I could have such a strong bond and such a strong relationship with someone who is such a senior to me where things are, it is a friendship which is based on a lot of mutual respect."

"It is one of the things he mentioned in the same message reaching out to me, that when you are expected to be strong and looked at as strong individual, people forget to ask how are you doing? So, it hit home to me, it was like this is it," he added.

Kohli, who took a break from cricket a few months ago, stormed back to his lost form in the Asia Cup 2022 where he hit his much-awaited 71st century against Afghanistan.

His form got even better in the ongoing T20 World Cup where he pulled off a miraculous win for India over Pakistan with his unbeaten 82 and went on to hit two more half centuries in the later matches.
