Sourav Ganguly turns 49, 'Team India' mates shower wishes
Kolkata/IBNS: Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president and former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly has been showered with wishes by his ex-teammates as he turned 49 on Thursday.
Ganguly's long time cricketer friend Sachin Tendulkar wrote in Bengali on Instagram, "My beloved Dadi. Happy birthday. Wishing you a healthy and happy year ahead.
"In a hilarious manner, Virender Sehwag posted on Instagram, "Dada ki gaadi mein savaar hoke, dada ke saath hi ride par (Travelling in Dada's vehicle to cover the ride with Dada). That’s what the ride was with @souravganguly for those 5 years. Wish you good health and happiness Dada in the coming year #happybirthdaydada."
VVS Laxman said, "Many more happy returns of the day @souravganguly . May you be gifted with life’s biggest joys and never-ending bliss. Wishing you a great year ahead."
Harbhajan Singh said, "Happy birthday captain.. Love always @souravganguly #tiger."
In all praises for his 'Dada', Mohammed Kaif said on an Instagram post, "When Dada led you on to the field, you somehow felt taller. Happy Birthday to the captain who patted your back when you did well and put a hand around your shoulder when you didn’t."
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, too, wished the cricketting icon with a bouquet of yellow roses.
Ganguly, who retired from international cricket in 2008, took charge of the Indian cricket board in 2019.
The former skipper, who reshaped Indian cricket, also became a television host and commentator in post-retirement life.
