New Delhi/IBNS: In a unique gesture, India's cricket icon Virat Kohli joined Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) women's team after they lifted the trophy of the second Women's Premier League (WPL) on Sunday.

After RCB lifted the trophy, Kohli, who plays for the same franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL), was seen having a video chat with the players including their captain Smriti Mandhana.

"Superwomen," posted Kohli in an Instagram lauding RCB for the maiden win in the franchise cricket across WPL and IPL.

Kohli, who plays for RCB since 2008 and has also captained the side for a considerable time, is yet to win a trophy in the IPL, which will kickstart for the new season on March 22.

Coming to the WPL final, RCB defeated Delhi Capitals by 8 wickets in a low-scoring match.

In response to DC's 113, RCB reached the target losing two wickets with three balls to spare.

Ellyse Perry, who won the Orange Cap for most runs in this season of WPL, ensured the team with her unbeaten 35 from 37 balls.
