Guwahati/UNI: Star cricketer Virat Kohli made it two hundred in a row in ODIs with his smashing century in Guwahati against Sri Lanka on Tuesday.

The Indian No.3 batter notched up his 45th ODI hundred on Tuesday against Sri Lanka, getting to his landmark off just 80 balls.

Having broken his century drought of three years in ODIs last month against Bangladesh, Kohli made it two in a row with the ton in Guwahati.

Kohli now has 45 ODI hundreds, moving one step closer to Sachin Tendulkar's record of 49 ODI tons.

It is worth noting that Tendulkar took three years to make his last five hundred and Kohli himself has only two in this format since 2020.

Kohli is well ahead of the next active player on the list, Rohit Sharma, who has 29 ODI tons.

In the first ODI against Sri Lanka, Kohli walked in after a strong 143-run opening stand between Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill. He was quick to get going, racing to 18 in 12 balls before Rohit was dismissed for 83.

Kohli got to his ton with a six over mid-wicket off Dhananjaya de Silva, taking 47 balls to get there. He was dropped shortly after by Kusal Mendis off Kasun Rajitha and made it count, ending the over with back-to-back boundaries.

When KL Rahul was dismissed in the 41st over, Kohli had already moved to 79 off 65 balls.
