‘Organised media campaign': Sister of jailed Baloch leader accuses Pakistan of silencing voices

| @indiablooms | Jan 17, 2026, at 06:00 pm

Nadia Baloch, sister of jailed Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) leader Dr Mahrang Baloch, has accused Pakistan of running an “organised media campaign” against the Baloch people.

She alleged that the media was being used in a “planned and coordinated manner to silence the human rights movement in Balochistan”, particularly targeting student organisations, according to The Balochistan Post.

Nadia Baloch said that enforced disappearances of Baloch youth and women had sharply increased, even as “false and baseless narratives” were being promoted through sections of the media to discredit those demanding justice.

She added that “media blackout and censorship” in Balochistan were not new but had now entered a far more dangerous phase. According to her, the lived realities of Balochistan’s youth were being systematically ignored.

Nadia further alleged that mainstream media was being deliberately used to justify what she described as “state brutality”.

Her remarks come amid accusations by the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) that Pakistan’s military media wing has been conducting “media trials” to legitimise enforced disappearances in the region.
