A student was injured after a motorcycle bomb exploded near a police mobile van in Pakistan’s Bannu region on Sunday night, close to the Government Postgraduate College and within the jurisdiction of the Cantonment Police Station.

Police sources told Dawn News that the police mobile van was on routine patrol when an explosive device planted in a motorcycle parked along the roadside detonated with a loud bang, damaging the vehicle.

All police personnel aboard the van escaped unhurt.

The condition of the injured student remains unknown.

Following the explosion, a police contingent rushed to the scene and cordoned off the area. An investigation into the incident has been launched.

Bannu and its adjoining areas have witnessed a series of security-related incidents in recent times, with police and security personnel increasingly being targeted in the region.
