A Pakistani woman was seriously injured after her brother-in-law allegedly attacked her with acid in Kasur city, highlighting once again concerns over women's safety in the South Asian country, media reports said.

According to police, the accused, identified as Shahbaz, allegedly threw acid on his sister-in-law, leaving her with severe burn injuries to her face and other parts of her body, Dawn News reported.

The victim, identified as Fatima Bibi, was rushed to a Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital for treatment.

In her statement to the police, Fatima alleged that Shahbaz had been harassing her for some time and had repeatedly pressured her to enter into a physical relationship with him.

She further alleged that he attacked her with acid after she refused his advances.

No arrests have been made in connection with the incident so far.
