The Chinese government has extended support to the healthcare sector in Balochistan, Pakistan, with a focus on improving maternal and newborn care across 100 medical centres in seven districts of the province.

Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti welcomed the initiative, expressing appreciation for China’s assistance. In a statement, he said the project reflects the strong partnership between Pakistan and China and represents an important example of bilateral cooperation.

“The provincial government is grateful to the Chinese government for this important cooperation,” the chief minister said, describing the initiative as a “shining example of Pakistan-China friendship and mutual cooperation.”

However, official details regarding the names of the seven districts and the implementation timeline have not yet been disclosed.

According to reports, the programme underscores the continued collaboration between Pakistan and China in public sector development, particularly in healthcare.

Officials told Pakistan Today that the initiative is aimed at strengthening maternal and child healthcare services in the province by improving the quality of care available at selected health facilities.
