Beijing, Sept 8 (IBNS): Alibaba’s co-founder and executive chairman Jack Ma has decided to step down from his position.

According to media reports, Ma will quit the Chinese e-commerce giant to pursue philanthropy in education.

Ma told The New York Times his retirement is not the end of an era but “the beginning of an era.”

Ma said he loved the field of education.

Alibaba is a Chinese multinational holding conglomerate specializing in e-commerce, retail, Internet, AI and technology.

Founded in 1999, the company provides consumer-to-consumer, business-to-consumer and business-to-business sales services via web portals, as well as electronic payment services, shopping search engines and cloud computing services.
