New Delhi/IBNS: Several bank branches and ATMS could be out of service as thousands of bank employees will join the 24-hour bandh on Jan 8 called by ten central trade unions, mediareports said.

The bank strike comes following the decision of five bank employee unions to join the Bharat Bandh called by ten central trade unions--INTUC,CITU,AITUC,HMS,TUUC,SEWA,LPF,AICCTU,UTUC,AIUTUC.

The All India Bank Officers Confederation(AIBOC) has issued a circular asking members to stay away from work tomorrow, media reports said.

The bank unions have joined the strike to show solidarity with their counterparts in other sectors against theeconomic reforms of the Narendra Modi government. Their strike is also against banking reforms, mega merger of PSU banks and in demand for pay hike and five-day week.
