The delegation will be led by Alok Roy, President, The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Chairman of Medica Group of Hospitals who will also sign an MOU on behalf of The Bengal Chamber with the Bhutan Chamber to promote bilateral business between Eastern India and Bhutan.

The visit will focus primarily on B2B meetings and B2G meetings and site visits.

The delegation will also have meetings with the Prime Minister of Bhutan, the Minister of the Economic Affairs and the Minister of Finance, along with the Ambassador of Indian Embassy in Bhutan.

Roy said, "The Bengal Chamber of Commerce in their constant endeavour to create lasting bonds between Government and Industry has brought together the Chambers of Commerce and Industry Associations of the various Eastern and North Eastern States and from our neighbouring countries. The business delegation to Bhutan is an initiative of the newly instituted “Confederation of Eastern Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CECCI)."

According to  Dorji, President, Bhutan Chamber of Commerce, West Bengal is huge market well connected by highways from Kolkata via Siliguri to Phuntsholing, with the main commercial centre connected by air services, at two points at Bagdora and Kolkata.  Bhutan has much to offer in terms of business in the service sector mainly in Hydro, Tourism, Hotel etc.

Dorji is also of the opinion that for business from West Bengal, Bhutan has a stable government and clear policy statement that would offer for prospective investment in Bhutan in wide range of business sectors.
