New Delhi/IBNS: The department of telecommunication Wednesday invited bids for the sixth round of spectrum auction for radio waves worth Rs 3.92 trillion.

The last date for submission of applications for participation in the auction is 5 Feb and the auction will start from March 1, the  notification said.

The department of telecommunication (DoT) has fixed January 12 for the pre-bid conference and last date for seeking clarification to the notice on January 28.

On December 17, the Union Cabinet had approved a proposal to auction 2,251.25 Megahertz (MHz) of spectrum worth Rs 3.92 lakh crore at the base price.

The auctions will be held for spectrum in frequency bands of 700 MHz, 800Mhz, 900 Mhz, 2100 Mhz, 2300 Mhz and 2500 MHz

The long awaited spectrum auctions are being held after a gap of four years and two years after Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) calculated and suggested the base price for the radio waves.
