Dutee Chand , Shrabani Nanda felicitated by Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan

New Delhi, July 12 (IBNS): Two women athletes who have qualified to represent India in the Rio Olympics have been felicitated by Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan at New Delhi on Tuesday.

The athletes Dutee Chand and Shrabani Nanda were felicitated in a function at the official residence of the Union Minister here in the presence of Union Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs Vijay Goel. 

Srabani Nanda has qualified for Women's 200m event to represent India in the Rio Olympics. Dutee Chand has qualified for the track and field event. Chand is the first Indian to qualify in the Women's 100m event after PT Usha in 1980.

Both the ace athletes are from Odisha and are from very humble background.

While felicitating Dutee and Shrabani, Pradhan wished them to succeed in their Olympic ambition and make every India proud. The Minister said as Odia he feels proud as both the athletes are from his home state Odisha and both of them have struggled very hard against all odds to reach this point.
