Lucknow/UNI:  This year's edition of Auto Expo, the biggest biannual extravaganza of India’s automotive industry, will put the focus of cleaner and greener technology and adoption of government's guidelines of BS VI norms.

The event will kick-start from February 7-12 at the India Expo Mart in Greater Noida.

The inauguration ceremony of Auto Expo 2020 will be held on February 6, Sanjeev Handa, co-chairman, SIAM Trade Fare Group and vice-president of corporate communication of Maruti Suzuki India Limited said here on Friday.

Around 100 participants are expected in this Motor show with 36 automobile companies, including five to six new one to showcase their new models.

"We are expecting around 50+ new launches and unveil during the show with electric and hi-breed vehicles getting priority," Handa told reporters here.

He further said that as from April 1, 2020, there would be only BS-6 vehicle registrations in the country, hence the new green vehicles would be showcased in this motor show.

Though almost all the big companies would be there in this Motor show, still some renowned names like Honda Toyota and Ford would not be there for some reasons.

The theme of this edition of auto expo is - ‘Explore the World of Mobility’, which resonates with the industry’s vision and message of technology, capability – for a safer, cleaner, connected, bespoke and shared mobility for tomorrow.

For the visitors, it will be an experience of the mobility eco-system that is evolving and unfolding every day, offering newer and enhanced solutions that are future-ready, he said.
The Auto Expo will feature new emission technology products and vehicles with more stringent safety standards under one roof. It would also showcase Indian automotive industry’s preparedness to adopt to the BS VI norms.

The Expo will witness many new entrants including around 20 start-ups who are participating and showcasing their products and technologies in green mobility.
