Manesar (Haryana): Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Friday said India’s growing reliability in electronics manufacturing and strengthened commitment to intellectual property rights are earning global recognition and creating new opportunities for manufacturers, designers, and young talent, according to an ANI report.

Speaking at VVDN Technologies’ Global Innovation Park in Manesar, where he inaugurated a new high-speed SMT line, Vaishnaw lauded the progress made under the 'Make in India' initiative.

“India now designs and manufactures products across sectors like automotive, power electronics, signalling, and security systems,” he said, calling it a “significant achievement.”

He noted that electronics manufacturing in India has grown fivefold over the past decade to ₹11 lakh crore, with exports touching over ₹3.5 lakh crore — a sixfold jump.

The sector now employs 25 lakh people, many of whom are working on advanced AI-embedded systems.

Vaishnaw highlighted the rise of large in-house design teams as a key strength, pointing to VVDN’s 5,000-strong engineering team as an example.

“This design talent gives us an edge over many countries,” he said.

He also announced a new government-backed scheme for electronics component manufacturing, which will now include both passive and active components under the semiconductor mission.

The newly launched SMT line at VVDN, the company’s largest, can support PCB sizes up to 850mm x 560mm and has a speed capacity of 2.5 lakh components per hour.

It is expected to boost domestic manufacturing of AI servers, motherboards, and networking gear — reducing import dependence and strengthening India’s supply chain resilience.
